Regions

Regions

The FCM has members throughout the whole country and so for practicality we have divided ourselves up into Regions We do actually have members living in France, and have had members living in Northern Ireland, so we do get around.  When you join us, you are part of a national club, so you are entitled to join any run that interests you. If you would like to know more about who we are and what we're doing, contact the Regional Secretary for your area of interest. If you ask nicely, there may even be a bed available for you if you want to travel across country.

Due to geographic size, most regions will organise runs for opposite ends of their region on different months, so don't worry if you think you live too far away, the next run may well be on your doorstep.
We are currently looking to set up a new Region in the Lincolnshire area and possibly beyond that. So watch this space (in between riding your bike of course).

Chiltern (covering the Chilterns and the Cotswolds)

Members in 2025: 11

I'm Perce Pirson (a nickname I picked up in the Scouts and has stuck ever since) and I've just taken over the organisation of the Chiltern Region. I live in the lovely Cotswolds and take every opportunity to get out and about on my beloved Triumph Bonniville. It has the nickname of "the great unwashed Triumph", but then I consider a motorcycle is for riding, not for cleaning! Besides, it broke down after I washed it the last time - must have been in shock!
Our region stretches from the M1 to the Welsh border, so if you live in the area, or are just passing through, why not join us for a ride?

East Anglia (covering the East coast through Anglia)

Hi, I am Stephen; a.k.a: SuperTed. Having been first elected in 2022 this year is my 5th as Regional Secretary. For some reason the EA members seem to think I’m doing a reasonable job. Either that or no-one else wants it. This brings things ‘full circle’; via several other committee posts; having been coerced by our late founder into being Regional Secretary back in 1990, just a year after I joined! Some of us seem to have ‘committee member’ in our genes.
I got my first bike, a Honda C90 Cub, as transport to get to my first job (as a lowly clerk at the BBC) in London. 50 plus years and 17 bikes later I now ride a BMW F800GS and a Triumph Tiger Sport 660. I am also allowed to ride my wife’s Honda CB500F on occasion.
I have been fortunate to see big parts of God’s earth from the seat of a motorcycle; including a 5 month trip through 14 countries north to south through the Americas; and have, so far, ridden in 30 countries, on 6 continents. East Anglia have a varied programme of events, spread through the Region, planned for the year. So there should be something near you. Feel free to join us on any of them. It would be good to see you.

Kent (covering South London and Sussex )

Members in 2025: 8

I'm settling into this role and was re-elected for another year - can't be doing that badly then. Our former Secretary has had some mad scheme to move across country and terrorise the inhabitants there, which now leaves it up to me to keep us roaming around Kent and Sussex. But we have plenty of interesting places to visit and nice sights to see (even if the roads aren't always in the condition we would like them to be).
Get in touch if you want to join us on a run - they alternate between starting at the Ashford end of Kent or at the Dartford end, so one should be convienient for you, or we can meet yo uhalf way.

Somehow this job has landed in my lap, so It's me to blame for getting you out and about the various rides we have planned in the West Country. Our Region stretches from Surrey to Cornwall, so we try to arrange rides at opposite ends of our "patch" when we can, or a "make your own wat" to a more central point for lunch.
But don't forget, you're free to join any Region's rides - just get in touch and let them know you want to join in (so they wait for you).

Sadly the members in this Region have all got older and stopped riding. Some runs organised by neighbouring regions will be in this direction, so contact us if you are interested in joining in.

West Wales  (covering South Wales)

Members in 2025: 4

None of us are getting any younger and poor health (among other reasons) has led to me taking over the reins of the Wesat Wales Region. We get together at least once a month, most months twice, and roar around the lovely Welsh hills (well, chugg alomng at a sedate pace depending on who's leading and what they are riding).
Do get in touch if you are in Wales and we can meet up with you.

We will be arranging ad hoc runs to supplement our current mid-week meetings with other local groups - usually on a Thursday evening in the Prees Heath area, then joining them on their runs. I will get around to letting loose my picture sometime soon.
This year we plan to repeat our special run at the end of June in memory of one of our members who died of cancer a couple of years ago and we hope to visit some of his favourite places.
If you are in our area, please get in touch and we will let you know what we are doing and when - you may even encourage us to arrange a special ride with you.

We no longer exist as an independant Region, but we are counted as National Members of the FCM, which means there are no restrictions on joining in a run in a nother Region. We will occassionally try to organise something in the area, so get in touch and we can see what can happen. Who knows, we may be able to reform as a Region!
